In 2006, New Zealand Post introduced a new postal coding regime in New Zealand designed to make postal deliveries more efficient, and geographical segmentation of address data more meaningful.

From 1st July 2008, business mailings will be required to use the new postal zones and provide a NZ Post SendRight certified Statement of Accuracy report with each mail lodgement to attract the postage discounts they have received on bulk mail lodgements in the past.
